Eric (“Rick”) Oppenheim is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Telemus Capital, LLC. He is responsible for all legal and regulatory compliance matters for the firm’s investment management, wealth advisory, family office services and insurance businesses. Prior to joining Telemus Capital, Rick was with TIAA-CREF where he headed the Asset Management and Trust Compliance Group and was later appointed Acting Chief Compliance Officer of TIAA-CREF’s mutual fund complex. Previously, he was with Comerica Incorporated, a major regional financial services company, for over 22 years where Rick managed the regulatory compliance programs for Comerica’s trust and wealth management, investment advisory, mutual fund, broker-dealer and insurance businesses.
Rick is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School. He is Vice Chair of the Investment Adviser Association’s Smaller Advisers Committee.
Rick is a director of Mi Bancorp, Inc. and Mi Bank based in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He is a life member and former vice president of the Detroit Economic Club. Rick serves as an Advisory Council member and is a past treasurer and director of Orchards Children’s Services. He and his wife, Arlene, a retired educator, are recipients of Orchard’s Commitment to Community Award.
Rick and Arlene are the proud parents of Seth and Kasey and proud grandparents of Emilia. They love to travel internationally and have visited all seven continents.
